Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are confirmed to reprise their roles in the new Hunger Games series film, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
News has broken that fan-favorite actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their iconic roles in the latest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Production is currently underway.
A Major Reunion for Fans
The actors will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the roles they originated. Speculation suggests their appearance will take the form of a flash-forward sequence, as the original saga concluded with their characters married and with children.
This marks the sixth installment in the blockbuster Hunger Games franchise.
Exploring the New Story
Sunrise on the Reaping is based upon a newly published work by author Suzanne Collins. It will be the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Once again is Francis Lawrence, who was behind nearly all the previous films in the series.
A New Era in Panem
The film's narrative are set in the years leading up to the first Hunger Games, spotlighting a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, destined to become Katniss's mentor, is shown as a tribute in the brutal 50th Hunger Games.
The cast also includes several notable actors in important characters:
- Jesse Plemons will portray Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes is cast as a earlier incarnation of the menacing President Snow.
What the Stars Are Doing Now & The Film's Schedule
Separately, Jennifer Lawrence has been nominated for a Golden Globe for the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson recently appeared in the hit horror film Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
