Operations Recommence at Edinburgh Airport After Major Control Tower IT Issue
Flight operations have restarted at Edinburgh Airport following a major ATC system failure halted all operations.
All aircraft movements were suspended after an systems problem that occurred at about 08:30.
Several flyers reported being stuck in jets at the stand while the issue persisted.
Operations Restart with Residual Impact
A statement indicated at 10:40 that flights had resumed, and expressed gratitude to passengers for their "patience and understanding".
However, significant disruption are anticipated to continue throughout the day. Services bound for key destinations like Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, and Bristol have been cancelled, with a host of additional flights experiencing delays.
An airport representative had initially projected that 27 departures and 11 arrivals could be affected.
"Flyers are asked to check directly with their airline for the most up-to-date details on their specific flights," officials reiterated.
Root of the Disruption
The problem was traced to the full ground stop to an technical fault with its control tower systems vendor.
Travelers should still plan to confirm the details of their flight before heading to the terminal as backlogs are worked through.
